From Patient Request to Confirmed Visit with Docio
A practical guide to reviewing a patient request, deciding whether to respond and understanding how a treatment proposal becomes a confirmed Docio visit.
Before taking on a patient visit, you need to understand the request, decide what you can offer and know when the appointment has been confirmed.
Docio brings those steps into a connected process: review the request, prepare a treatment proposal, follow the response and move into the confirmed visit. Each stage gives you a decision to make and information to check.
Review the request details
The doctor request screen shows the patient’s name, reported medical issue and location, with distance information when available. This gives you a starting point for assessing whether the visit could be appropriate.
Read the information provided and consider what remains uncertain. A symptom description helps you understand why someone is seeking care; your assessment and clinical judgement remain essential.
Check the request’s current status and any response countdown shown in the app. Requests can expire, so use the information on the current screen when deciding how to proceed.
Choose work you can fulfil
Consider whether the patient’s reported needs fit your professional scope and whether you have the equipment, time and practical access needed for an in-person visit.
For example, a request near your clinic may still be difficult to fit in if your next commitment leaves insufficient time for the journey, consultation and documentation. Consider the full visit before offering to undertake it.
You can decline a request that is unsuitable. Being available gives you the opportunity to review requests; you still decide whether to prepare a proposal.
Prepare and review your treatment proposal
If the request is suitable, choose Build proposal. In the current request flow, this reserves the request while you prepare your response. Follow the proposal deadline displayed in the app.
Use the proposal builder to select the clinically appropriate services you intend to offer. Review the consultation component, selected treatment items, total price and displayed expected earnings before submitting.
Reviewing these figures helps you weigh the proposed work against travel and the time involved. Actual net payment remains subject to the applicable commission, deductions and payment terms.
Submit only when you are prepared to carry out the proposed visit if it is confirmed. The proposal is based on the information available at this stage; your clinical assessment still guides care when you see the patient.
Follow the patient’s response
After submission, Docio shows a waiting-for-patient stage with the proposal summary and total. The proposal remains pending while the response is outstanding.
Use the app’s status updates to follow what happens next. A proposal can be accepted or declined. While it remains pending, the waiting screen also provides a withdrawal option if you can no longer offer the visit.
Check that any withdrawal has completed successfully. A confirmed booking carries different responsibilities, so always act on the latest status shown in the app.
Check the confirmed visit before setting off
When the proposal is accepted and a confirmed appointment is available, the app moves to the visit’s navigation screen. Review the patient and location details before travelling, and use the app to follow the visit’s progress.
Once a booking is confirmed, you are responsible for attending at the agreed place and time. If you cannot fulfil it, the Physician Agreement requires you to cancel through the app as soon as practicable.
The practical benefit is continuity: the request you reviewed, the proposal you submitted and the confirmed appointment stay within the same visit process. You remain responsible for clinical decisions and for fulfilling the work you accept.
A short checklist before submitting
- Do the reported needs fit my professional scope and available equipment?
- Can I allow enough time for travel, assessment and documentation?
- Have I reviewed the selected services, total price and expected earnings?
- Am I prepared to fulfil this visit if it is confirmed?
- Do I know where to check the proposal’s latest status before setting off?
Docio gives independent doctors tools to review opportunities and manage the steps towards a visit. Suitable requests, patient acceptance and earnings will vary; receiving a request or submitting a proposal does not guarantee a booking.
